Jamaica selected as a hot spot for summer travel

    Thursday, February 21, 2008

JAMAICA is heating up the summer travel scene, according to the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA).
Montego Bay, Jamaica, was just selected by ASTA as one of the "Top 10 International Hot Spots-Cities" for Summer 2008 and is the only English-speaking Caribbean country in the ASTA top 10 at number five. This is due in no small part to Jamaica's breathtaking beauty, heart-thumping adventure offerings, laid-back resort atmosphere, and wide variety of special events and attractions that cater to all types of travellers looking for more than a day at the beach. Jamaica was also recognised in this category for 2007.

"Jamaica's continued presence on travel industry "hot" lists is a testament to the destination's wide appeal," said Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett. "In fact, preliminary figures for stopover arrivals this year indicate that Jamaica is 10 per cent ahead of 2007 figures for the period January thru the first two weeks of February."
Jamaica's appeal as a summer getaway is due to her diversity of offerings for families, couples, friends, children, nature lovers and adventure seekers. There is something for everyone, including romantic couples-only resorts, gorgeous wedding spots, exciting water parks, pulsating music festivals, superb championship golf courses, therapeutic spas and much more.
