  • Did anyone hear the interview with the former

Speaker of the House, Michael Peart? The man said that Kern was being made a "scapegoat" while Paulwell is getting away. Him say indecisive actions by the leadership of the PNP had caused the "corruption" to get out of hand as they should have clamped down on Paulwell from early.

Him also mek it clear that the pilot of the bulb project in Paulwell's constituency was full of nepotism and Kern simply followed the pilot.

But .. lets do like KArl and point finger at the CG.

Wha mek yuh continue to highlight Karl's unending blind loyalty and support of folly? Karl is a courageous individual and he continues to show no fear for his support of corruption and abuse of public funds.

Shaw has displayed a high level of arrogance, and the JLP
wasn't even in power. Would love to know why he bought oops captured the blasted land?...and exactly when he intends to pay for it?... I am now curious as to the credit ratings of our land grabbing Minister of Finance.
Was the PNP so bad that the JLP can never be bad?

i wouldn't say that they couldn't be as bad...but it looking pretty bad!

the law, like nature, abhors a vacuum and therefore where there land and it is idle there exists provisions within the law to obtain title of the property by adverse possession......

i don't expect persons who can afford to buy the land to go that route and in that regard that is a black eye on shaw.....but if the government didn't take the steps they needed to take to evict him then he could have aquired the land LEGALLY without paying for it

Here you go again! Just lock step with your choir!
Where any and all acts of corruption is concerned my position has always been "let the chips fall where they may" via due process...fair investigations...not your trial by 'public shoutings'.

...but I have come to realise that due process does not fall under your moral compass.

As to the CG and arrogance and leaks.
It is my opinion that the man has a tremendous case of "delusions of grandeur".

...on leaks - let the chips fall where they may. ...and he has said that it should be 'bring on the investigations'.

Christie dares People's National Party (PNP) to prove leak
            published: Thursday | February 14, 2008

            Christie
Contractor General Greg Christie wants two People's National Party (PNP) parliamentarians to produce evidence of an email containing his special report into the Cuban light bulb project, which they claimed was leaked to the media.

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Michael Peart, told his parliamentary colleagues on Tuesday that his investigation revealed that the report was emailed from the contractor general's office.

            Phillips' support

            ( L - R ) Peart, Phillips

Peter Phillips, leader of opposition business in the House, supported his colleague by asserting that "It is clear that the breach occurred from an institution which is a Commission of Parliament."

Phillips urged Speaker of the House, Delroy Chuck, to conduct an investigation into the matter.

In a swift response yesterday, Christie told The Gleaner that if the claim by both parliamentarians could be verified, steps would be taken to refer the matter to the director of public prosecutions for him to commence criminal proceedings.

Christie argued that the former speaker and Phillips should not have a difficulty in producing a certified copy of the email they alleged to have been leaked from the Office of the Contractor General (OCG).

"In the interest of justice, it is hoped that they will do so forthwith and that they will promptly hand over to the police the evidence which they now hold," Christie said yesterday in a release.

            Not an accusation
In a release late yesterday, Phillips said he did not accuse the contractor general of illegally leaking the report to the media.

He said the Hansard records of Parliament showed that in questioning how the report found its way into the media, he made no explicit accusation against anyone.

On February 4, the OCG, in keeping with its statutory obligations under the Contractor General's Act, issued 11 hard copies of the OCG's report of the investigation into the Cuban light bulb project to specified state authorities.
Christie said the reports were delivered by the OCG under armed police escort.
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
