One of the unions representing workers at Air Jamaica is demanding that the management pay up millions of dollars in workers' statutory deductions before the airline is sold.
The National Workers Union (NWU) is worried that Air Jamaica could change hand without a settlement being reached on arrears which have been outstanding for more than a decade.
NWU Vice-President Granville Valentine is insisting that priority be given to the contentious issue of National Housing Trust arrears.
"Air Jamaica must pay up all outstanding bills before selling the company. If any persons are going to be made redundant or any positions are going to be made redundant then all monies owed on behalf of that worker must be paid also," said Mr. Valentine.
The Ministry of Finance is currently seeking a buyer to take control of the cash strapped national airline.
