Thieves attempt to rob former Prime Minister Friday, 08 February 2008 The police are investigating a [COLOR=blue! important][COLOR=blue! important]security [COLOR=blue! important]breach[/COLOR][/COLOR][/COLOR] at the private residence of former [COLOR=blue! important][COLOR=blue! important]Prime [COLOR=blue! important]Minister[/COLOR][/COLOR][/COLOR] Edward Seaga.
The RJR News Centre was informed that thieves broke into Mr. Seaga's car early Friday morning.
However, quick action from a [COLOR=blue! important][COLOR=blue! important]security[/COLOR][/COLOR] detail thwarted the robbery attempt.
The men ran after they were shot at by members of the security team.
Neither Mr. Seaga, nor any member of his [COLOR=blue! important][COLOR=blue! important]family[/COLOR][/COLOR], was injured during the incident.
Security has been beefed up following the intrusion.
Senior detectives assigned to the Half way [COLOR=blue! important][COLOR=blue! important]Tree[/COLOR][/COLOR] CIB have been collecting statements from the policemen on duty, as well as members of the household.
Mr. Seaga served as Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition in a political career spanning more than 40 years.
He is a Research Fellow at the University of West Indies and was recently appointed Pro-Chancellor at the University of [COLOR=blue! important][COLOR=blue! important]Technology[/COLOR][/COLOR], UTech.
