International help is coming for Jamaica to deal with its near $1 trillion public debt.
The World Bank is to send a team of financial specialists to the island to examine and discuss new approaches to the debt challenges.
The undertaking was given this week when Prime Minister Bruce Golding along with Finance Minister, Audley Shaw and other government officials, met with a World Bank delegation.
The delegation was led by Vice President for Latin America and the Caribbean, Mrs. Pamela Cox.
The World Bank representatives noted that while Jamaica's needs are tremendous, the multilateral institution is willing to assist.
Mrs. Cox said with the appointment of a new World Bank President, it has been adopting new approaches to assist CARICOM countries.
