  • Shadow Cabinet strategic meeting

Opposition Leader Portia Simpson-Miller, has summoned members of her Shadow Cabinet to special meeting Monday afternoon.

The Opposition team will among other things, discuss strategies aimed at putting pressure on the five month old Bruce Golding administration.

The Shadow Cabinet caucus, which is scheduled to begin at 2 o'clock, follows Sunday's meeting of the People's National Party's (PNP's) National Executive Council, (NEC).

With its full executive now in place, following Sundday's election of Peter Bunting as the new General Secretary, the Party is getting ready to flex its muscles.

PNP Spokesperson on Information Lisa Hanna, said the Party has given the Government enough time to settle down.

Miss Hanna said the time has come to make certain demands on the administration.

Former PNP General Secretary Donald Buchanan on Sunday urged Party members to be prepared for a possible early general election.

Addressing the NEC meeting at the Jamaica Conference Centre, he described the Golding administration as a failure.

He claimed the country is disillusioned with the Jamaica Labour Party's performance so far and this could force the party back to the polls soon.
"Jamaica's future reflects its past, having attained only one per cent annual growth over 30 years whilst neighbours have grown at five per cent." (Article)
