  • ok.. pet peeves...

someone in my office came to me for instruction... as i am explaining, the person kept on saying, 'i know', 'i know'... it is extremely irritating... if the person knew, why would there be a need for me to explain the same thing... btw, this person had previously gotten the same instruction from a colleague just yesterday...

so, there is one of my pet peeves... 'i know'...

i'd be interested in hearing of other forumites pet peeves...

no feel no way baddaz mi have the same problem, mine was even worse one time when I worked in a different enviroment. White colleagues would ask me for help on something I would give them answers they would say thanks but moments later they go to another white colleague with the same question yet still get the same answer and only apply the solution after it was verified by their same kind.

Oh! I hate that! Americans, esp. the white ones, do that all the time! As if I could not possibly be explaining something to their smart selves! That's certainly one of mine.

I know another one for some people is when people mention race all the time!

      heh heh!

Happens to me at work here. I would tell my boss something and he only believes it when a consultant (read white with laptop) tells him the very same thing. Of course, he would forget that I ever told him anything of the sort.

So to simplify it, since them gonna go ask another person, just say politely - I know you don't think I know

mine is when someone answers a question that you didn't ask because they think they know why you asked it..

e.g. Q: did you go through the door? A: i didn't leave it open.

it's only pre-emptive if that is where you were really going, it is not then it is farging annoying.

                  Pet Peeve # 1

Pre-recorded political announcements by phone. I want to hear from a live human being so I can tell him/her where to put his/her message.

                  PET PEEVE # 2

Telephone sales calls from people asking for my father, Joseph Walters., especially when they say he called earlier. My father died in 2001. We never changed the name in the phone book.

ANIMAL RIGHTS. Today I got a phone call from one of the local "Humane Societies" seeking donations.

The MIAMI HERALD reports that the Humane Society of the US (HSUS) gave $500,000 to a group trying to defeat a referendum in Miami-Dade County allowing slot machine at horse and greyhound tracks.

HSUS also gave $900,000 on a referendum campaign to give consitutional rights to pregnant pigs in Arizona; and $600,000 on a referendum to overturn a law in Michigan allowing hunting of mourning doves.

HSUS raised $34 million during Hurricane Katrina, but only spent $600,000 in Louisiana, and raised more money under false pretenses claiming they would take care of the dogs in the Michael Vick case.

HSUS does not operate a single animal shelter anywhere in the USA.

So, I told the caller about this, and told her....get your money from them, not from me.

Then tell him some choice words like that Jakan English woman on the youtube video that admonished the smoker!
