NSWMA begins collection fees for use of dump sites Monday, 07 January 2008 The collection of Administrative fees by the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) from contractors who use selected disposal sites began Monday morning.
The required fee for every trip to the dump sites is $500.
Director of Enforcement and Compliance at the NSWMA, Andre Wiltshire, says so far it has been a smooth process.
The sites are Riverton in the Kingston and St. Andrew Council area, Church Corner in St. Thomas, Tobalski and Haddon in St. Ann, Martins Hill in Manchester, Myersville in St. Elizabeth and Retirement in St. James.
And a news item we published last Friday (January 4, 2008) indicated that a treat held in Riverton City was fully funded by the agency.
We attributed this statement to Community Relations Manager at the National Solid Waste Management Authority, Michael Richards.
However, what Mr. Richards actually told our News Centre was that the treat was an NSWMA project but it was funded by well wishers of the Authority.
We apologise for the error and any difficulties it may have caused.
