JUTC workers at Rockfort depot on strike
It was a miserable start of the new school term for some students in the corporate area as workers at the Jamaica Urban Transit Company, stationed at the Rockfort Depot in St. Andrew withdrew their services.
No buses have left the depot as the workers have ceased all operations.
Disgruntled workers told the RJR News centre that the company has not paid over monies deducted from their salaries to various entities.
This has left staffers in an embarrassing financial position.
Since before 5 o'clock Monday morning, commutators bombarded the News centre with calls saying there was chaos on the roads as many of them were left stranded.
Personnel from the Jamaica Defence Force and the Police are now at the depot."Jamaica's future reflects its past, having attained only one per cent annual growth over 30 years whilst neighbours have grown at five per cent." (Article)
