  • Three men charged for ACP Kameka’s murder remanded

Three men charged in connection with the murder of Assistant Commissioner of Police Gilbert Kameka were remanded when they appeared in the Gun Court on Friday morning.

The three had their case mentioned and were ordered to return to court on January 11.

When the matter came up for mention, only 21-year-old Rohan Townsend of Irish Town, St. Andrew had a lawyer.

Mr. Townsend, who is facing a charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice, is being represented by attorney-at-law Earl Delisser.

The other two, 26-year-old Massimassa Adams of Industry Village and 18-year-old Kemar Dawson of Standpipe, in St. Andrew, were unrepresented.

The trio has been charged with murder, conspiracy to murder, robbery with aggravation, conspiracy to robbery and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The fourth accused, 18-year-old Tyna Gay of Mount Industry, did not appear in court on Friday morning.

It is unclear why Miss Gay did not appear before the judge.

All four were held following a major probe into the shooting death of ACP Kameka in what investigators say to was a robbery attempt at a house in Irish Town on November 29.

The 48-year-old Assistant Commissioner headed the Area Four Police and is the highest ranking police officer to be killed by criminals in recent history.

It does not appear Townsend is charged with murder and the related charges, despite the claims(to the contrary)by the article.
The attempted robbery(house)raises serious questions as to the involvement of the young lady...,and makes the murder of the AC more random than premeditated, suggesting even further that Tyna was not complicit ..as first thought.
In any event AC was not targeted.
