Wild and funny!
The EU is an ageing society that has stopped reproducing with too little immigration and a lot of govt programs to support. They will do well just to maintain their standard of living over the next 10-20 years.
China just a come and will have to show how they survive the rough and tumble world of the free market before we see if they are just a pretender superpower like Japan (still can't recover from thier excesses of the 80s) or the real thing.
The US has taken some big hits over the last 10 years, stock market bubble/bust , 9-11, major disasters like Katrina and GW Bush, yet they still have a steady, if not strong , economy and a stable society.
