HAVING MET and surpassed all their targets for students to be trained, the HEART Trust/NTA continues to make significant strides in training and certifying the Jamaican workforce.
This year has been especially significant for the institution as, in addition to certifying over 2,000 students and achieving 128 per cent of their certification goal, they celebrate the 25th anniversary of their existence.
Graduates of the institution receive National Vocational Qualification of Jamaica certification, which provides them with the option of working in 68 different Commonwealth countries.
The institution also provides Caribbean Vocational Qualification, which enables graduates to gain employment worldwide, and with an emphasis on quality, HEART graduates perform exceptionally well in their respective areas.
Of special note is the fact that HEART's Runaway Bay training institute is the only centre of its kind to become Green Globe Certified.
As the organisation blazes into the hospitality industry, Thursday, December 6, will remain a memorable day as six chefs, Raymond Samuels, Kurt McCormack, Fay Dawkins, Shawn Bryan, Karl Thomas and Lincoln Peterkin, also known as the 'Magnificent Six', graduated from the institution after completing a joint programme with the Culinary Institute of America (CIA).
The Runaway Bay HEART Institute is the first school in Jamaica to certify executive chefs.
Richard Bourke, general manager of Starfish Trelawny Resort, said many local hoteliers considered HEART to be the Jamaican hotel workers' university.
