Transfers of senior officers of the JCF Wednesday, 19 December 2007 RJR News has been informed that several senior police officers are to be transferred, less than three days after the official appointment of Jamaica's 26th Police Commissioner, Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin.
While it is unclear if the transfers were recommended to the Police Services Commission before the appointment of Rear Admiral Lewin, the transfers are allegedly slated to become effective on January 1.
The list of senior officers slated for transfer is allegedly expected to be published in the next Force Orders.
Among the notable transfers is Commanding Officer for the problem plagued Clarendon Police Division, Superintendent Radcliffe Lewis, who recently called for a state of emergency to curtail the crime wave in the parish.
Superintendent Lewis, who heads the Police Area Four, is said to be replaced by Head of Administration at the Professional Standards Branch, Superintendent Dayton Henry.
Superintendent Henry had been handpicked by former Police Commissioner, Lucius Thomas, approximately two years ago to Head that section of the Force.
Meanwhile, there is widespread speculation that Head of the Professional Standards Branch, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Novelette Grant, is also to be transferred
