Recent clean-up activities being spearheaded by the National Solid Waste Management Authority, (NSWMA), came in for increased focus at Tuesday's review of the 2007/2008 first Supplementary Estimates.
Leader of Opposition Business, Dr. Peter Phillips and Member of Parliament for St. Andrew South East, Maxine Henry-Wilson, raised several concerns surrounding the clean-up project.
Dr. Phillips first questioned the additional spending for the project being undertaken by the agency in sections of the Corporate Are.
He said a previous plan had been implemented by the former People's National Party (PNP) administration and questioned whether the same clean-up plan is being financed or were there specific changes.
Finance Minister Audley Shaw sought to clarify the position even while he was being pressed for more details from Mrs. Henry-Wilson.
The Finance Minister said it was his desire for the clean-up campaign to be undertaken islandwide.
He said details of the programme will be made available soon.
