Member of Parliament (MP) for South Central St. Catherine, Sharon Haye-Webster, weighed in on the recent controversy surrounding remarks made by two her parliamentary colleagues.
Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Members of Parliament Everard Warmington and Robert Montague have been under fire for statements they made during the recent campaign for the Local Government Elections.
In the House Tuesday, Mrs. Haye-Webster tabled a motion calling for the immediate establishment of an ethics committee which would reprimand members of the House.
On Monday, both Mr. Warmington and Mr. Montaque were summoned to separate meetings with Prime Minister Bruce Golding following outrage over their comments.
Mr. Warmington told Old Harbour residents that if they did not vote for the JLP, they would not receive hurricane-relief cheques while Mr. Montague suggested that people could only access certain benefits if they voted for his party.
He issued an apology Monday afternoon.
