  • Senate approves resolution on road repair

A national policy for the repair and maintenance of the nation's roads is being prepared by the Government.

Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Senator Desmond Mckenzie, announced the plan during Friday's sitting of the Upper House.

Senator McKenzie was making his contribution to the debate on a resolution tabled by Opposition Senator, Norman Grant.

The Mayor elect for Kingston, made it clear that Jamaicans will have to wait sometime before several roads are fixed

The resolution from Senator Grant had called on the government to indicate its policy for the upgrading and reconstruction of roads particularly in rural Jamaica.

Following a huddle by members of both sides of the Senate, the resolution was modified and approved.
"Jamaica's future reflects its past, having attained only one per cent annual growth over 30 years whilst neighbours have grown at five per cent." (Article)

They better get going and soon. The roads are in the worst state I have ever seen and nothing is happening.

Strange, why you weren't complaining that the previous gov't should get going? As the saying goes, change is good.
