Decision on control of St. Ann Parish Council to be made Friday

It should be known later Friday who will take control of the St. Ann Parish Council.

The Council has been hanging in the balance since the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) and People's National Party (PNP) emerged with 8 Divisions each following Wednesday's Local Government Elections.

Assistant Director of Elections, Earl Simpson, says the Electoral Office of Jamaica remains on schedule to complete the counting in St. Ann and other parishes.

He says the results should be ready by early Friday afternoon.

The JLP was declared the winner of the Elections taking control of 9 of the 13 Council.

The PNP was left with command of three councils, Westmoreland, Manchester and Hanover.

In the meantime, the People's National Party is eying a few Divisions where it might seek magisterial recounts.

PNP General Secretary Donald Buchanan says the Party is consulting its legal advisors to decide whether to go that route.

"The People's National Party is examining all the final results and there are in fact a few divisions where it is very possible that we will file magisterial recounts," said Mr. Buchanan.

Lets see how it works out. Clarendon was able to come together and work ... lets see what the people from my beloved parish will do.
