  • Protest at St. Ann's Bay Hospital protest

Medical record officers and technicians at the St. Ann's Bay Hospital in St. Ann are on strike.

The workers picketed the front of the hospital to protest against what they say are poor working conditions and non-payment of shift premiums.

The say they were not paid shift premiums between 1993 and 2006.

Negotiating Officer with the Union of Technical, Administrative and Supervisory Personnel (UTASP) Gerald Guthrie, said the workers have lost patience with the management.

He said the protest action will continue until the hospital administration and the Northeast Regional Authority address the situation.
"Jamaica's future reflects its past, having attained only one per cent annual growth over 30 years whilst neighbours have grown at five per cent." (Article)
