Man killed in reprisal for Clarendon massacre

A man was shot and killed Tuesday night in what the police believe was a reprisal attack for Tuesday morning's fatal shooting of five persons in Ashleigh Hall, Clarendon.

The man has been identified as 56-year-old farmer Leebert Brown otherwise called "Lurch" of Downer District in Alley, Clarendon.

About 9.30 Tuesday night, Mr. Brown and his 14-year-old son were at home sleeping when gunmen kicked off the door and entered.

They opened fire hitting Mr. Brown several times.

    He died on the spot.

His son escaped by jumping through a window.

The shooting occurred a few miles from where five persons were killed early Tuesday morning.

43-year-old Lurline Lewis, her 21-year-old son Shamar Davis; 46-year-old Delora Green, her common law husband 33-year-old Daniel Parkinson and 48-year-old Delroy Riley were killed by gunmen who invaded their homes.

Mr. Davis was allegedly found with a gun.

The police theorize that he was the target of the attack.
