  • Credit Card Scam - Hotels

Milwaukee TV station WTMJ reported a credit card scam victimizing hotel guests. The report did not say where the hotels were located.

A person claiming to be from hotel management phones your room, and says there is a problem with your credit card, and asks to verify your credit card number.

However, the person making the call is NOT a hotel employee.

Armed with your credit card number, the caller goes on a shopping spree before you know what happened.

If you recieve such a call while staying in a hotel, DO NOT GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER OVER THE PHONE. Call the front desk, explain what happened and ask if there is actually a problem with your credit card.

If the front desk clerk says there is a problem, go to the front desk and settle the matter in person.
