The planned beautification programme which was set to get underway Friday in the resort town of Ocho Rios has been delayed.
RJR News has been informed that arrangements have not been completed for the project begin.
This has resulted in it being pushed back by a week.
Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett had announced that the Tourism Resort Area Beautification Programme would have been intensified in preparation for the upcoming winter tourist season.
It was expected to involve the removal of debris as well as the painting of shop fronts, walls, medians and pedestrian crossings.
It is reported that the postponement is due in part to the need for the newly installed Board of the Tourism Enhancement Fund to meet to finalise financial arrangements for the project.
The total cost of the project is $40 million.
Just over half will be provided by the Government with tourism interests finding the balance.
