  • National Planning Summit scheduled for next week

    Wednesday, 24 October 2007

A major summit has been planned for next week in St. James in a bid to formulate new strategies to increase economic growth in Jamaica.

The event, which is being described as a National Planning Summit, will involve Prime Minister Bruce Golding, high ranking officials of the Government and senior members of the private sector.

According to the Office of the Prime Minister, the summit will seek to arrive at a broad consensus on initiatives that will drive economic growth and sustainable development.

President of the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica (PSOJ), Chris Zacca, says he expects a new feasible economic model will emerge from the two day event.

The Prime Minister is to hold a press conference on November 4 at the Ritz Carlton Hotel during which the decisions made at the summit will be announced.
