Pretty short sighted thinking isn't it?

If you believe you can find a practical alternative before it runs out or gets too expensive its not that short-sighted.

Or if you beileve there is enough but some brute force is needed to control it.

Precipitation is free and it is renewable to a point yet there is not enough of it to satisfy the worlds consumption. What is the practical alternative to H20?

Are we talking about the world as a whole or specific economies in the world?

And if you talking bout H2O , EVERY economy is dependent on it so I don't quite get you point about short-sightedness.

Sure every economy is dependent on it so why then do certain countries allow gallons of precipitation to flow into sewers instead of utilising sistern technology? Do you know that each household and business place (depending on geography of course) could satisfy their water needs if they caught rainwater in sisterns? So why is it that these "intellectually advanced" societies continue to put their very way of life in jeopardy? Doesn't sound too "intelligent" to me

Ok, when you put it in that context I agree it is not "intelligent"

Of course the reason they do it is that as long as it is available and relatively cheap most people cannot be convinced to conserve on any commodity. So in that sense they are short-sighted.

The same could be said for crude oil though. It is still readily available and based on the sale of SUVs I guess it is still cheap to enough people.
