  • Finance Minister now in Washington for IMF meeting

Finance Minister Audley Shaw is now in Washington for the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.

Mr. Shaw is leading a delegation which includes Minister without Portfolio in the Finance Ministry, Senator Don Wheby and Financial Secretary Colin Bullock.

Other members of the delegation include Planning Institute of Jamaica Head, Dr. Wesley Hughes and BOJ Governor, Derrick Latibeaudiere.

The delegation is scheduled to discuss several key areas with officials of both multi-lateral agencies.

One issue that is expected to be on the agenda is the issue of how Jamaica can better access multilateral financing for development.
"Jamaica's future reflects its past, having attained only one per cent annual growth over 30 years whilst neighbours have grown at five per cent." (Article)
