Dear Mr Daddy Oh - A reader's Response

    Sunday, October 14, 2007

We the older women i.e the 40+ Silent Majority, cannot help but empathise with you, in private, but we cannot participate in your public discussions, because we have been condemned to the "no sex" corner of the ring, and dare not come out to fight, for fear of being ridiculed, and labelled as Dirty Old Women.

So, what do we do? We keep quiet and pretend that all is well in our world, because should we dare to pursue love or lust, or even entertain any "friendships" with younger men, who, for whatever reasons, may find us sometimes interesting, we are belittled and seen as silly old fools, who are said to be purchasing love from young men, whose only interest in us must be of a monetary nature (of course this is similar to the old men/young girls scenario, but does not appear so, because of the myopic vision of the old men).

Sir, you consider it" unfair and unkind of society to label, wrap up and put away gentlemen, merely because they have accumulated a few years", but our situation is far more grave, as we are perceived as sick and worthless, because we dare to yearn for love or lust.. Both Dirty Old Men and Dirty Old Women need love, but we are forced to submerge our feelings and yearnings for healthy, strong and fit-body men of any age, whilst we suffer and pretend to enjoy the fumblings and failings of these old men, whose egos we continue to stroke by fawning and faking, when the reality is that we have both not inspired each other.

I agree with the idea of an informal poll, but the question should be extended to us too, so we can say what turns us on. I guarantee that the response would be the female equivalent of the men's response. It certainly would not be the balding, wrinkled, saggy, beer gut, whose exercise programme consists of lifting a rum glass, and whose flag, at its best, can only fly at half mast. To him the word stamina is as alien as Latin or Greek, and his dictionary will define it as a derivative of a little blue pill or its equivalent.

Our response, like yours, would be that we are turned on by the hard-bodied, sometimes very intelligent young buck, whose fresh outlook on life is not jaded and cynical, and who just may be interested in listening to us, instead of boring us with the endless fairy tales of the days when they were Kings, and ruled the world (a position that can never be corroborated by friends or classmates of their era).

We agree wholeheartedly that Dirty Old Men and Dirty Old Women, must ALWAYS develop and practise healthy living and eating habits, exercise, stay fit and strong and avoid tendencies to be bitter and jaded, but more importantly they must keep the mind fresh, by learning something new everyday.

We agree that many Young bucks have the best of both worlds in that they may have some young filly as our counterpart (as do the young lasses who stroke your egos), but the difference is, that unlike the Dirty Old Men, they possess the ability to rebound, and for that we are grateful, and we do not fool ourselves. Is that wrong? It might be, but it is the lesser evil, compared to a world of No Love.

So Sir, in your prayers, please pray for Dirty Old Women too, as we continue to lie atop, beside and beneath these pot-bellied, soft-bodied, gasping locomotives, while, we are forced to travel in our minds eye to a place where the young bucks are firm, fit and full of vigour, all in the search of love.

We are in the same boat, whether we admit it or not, therefore, we need not be enemies. Whilst we do not necessarily need to share the same bunk - beds, we can enjoy the waves as platonic friends, and you can exhale and let your smallish guts hang out, your grey hairs grow in, whilst you tell us your fears, until we hit landfall. We will not judge you.
    Mammie Oh.

    PS
Agree with the dress code and new law idea, we are becoming a classless people.
