New board of directors for Air Jamaica on Cabinet’s agenda

Approval is expected to be granted Tuesday for the appointment of a new Board of Directors to head the national airline Air Jamaica.

The matter is on the agenda of the meeting of the Cabinet.

Transport Minister Mike Henry says the new Air Jamaica Board will be a mixture of old and new faces.

Speculation is rife that former Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Spokeswoman on Commerce, Shirley Williams, is to take over as Chairman of the airline.

If Henry knows anything he should put the airline up for

sale with the goverment still having a stake in it for national interest and security reasons but this buyer this time must be a real serious entity who wants to genuinely make money and not use it as leverage for their other businesses.

Well the JLP had indicated that they intend to deal with Air J the same way Singapore or is it (Air Malaysia?) .... was dealt with.

When asked Virgin was interested , they wouldn't say if they are interested but say the bigman will meet with the government soon on other matters sot heir is a chance them or some other good entity with experience in the airline business will could step in.
