Prime Minister Bruce Golding has reportedly intervened in crime fighting efforts in a bid to stem the blood letting in sections of the island.
The revelation was made following Sunday's Central Executive Meeting of the Jamaica Labour Party in Ocho Rios, St. Ann.
The central executive of the Jamaica Labour Party met on Sunday for the first time since the General Election to give the Bruce Golding-administration the thumbs up.
"The central executive has endorsed the performance to the extent that they have given us the mandate to continue along that path," said General Secretary Karl Samuda.
But it just could not ignore last week's bloodletting including the murder of seven persons, four women, two children and a man in Rockfort in troubled East Kingston within a three hour span.
It has been only four weeks since the JLP assumed office but already the frightening crime wave has propelled the administration under the gun.
This has triggered a reaction from private leadership at the central executive meeting.
JLP Chairman Dr. Ken Baugh revealed that the central executive was told that the Prime Minister has joined forces with the National Security Minister Derrick Smith.
"The Prime Minister spoke about it, he informed the Minister that he had intervened once he had learnt of the numbers and he has taken special steps. I don't want to reveal all that he told me and he has not revealed all that he intends to do but he has already intervened and he has taken special steps to deal with the situation of crime," JLP Chairman, Dr. Ken Baugh.
Dr. Baugh said that while he was unable to divulge details, the nation would hear more on the Prime Minister's intervention in the coming days.
