Wolmer's Boys ended Campion College's unbeaten run in the ISSA Pepsi/Digicel Manning Cup with a convincing 4-1 win in their Group C game at Heroes Circle yesterday.

Striker Christopher Waugh scored twice to put the hosts comfortably in front after 37 minutes. But Shamir Saddler's strike on 43 minutes pulled the visitors back in contention heading into the break.

Twelve minutes after the restart, Ashani Fairclough doubled the lead again with a stunning volley that swerved into the top left corner of the goal.
Fairclough's effort was bettered by Wolmer's playmaker, Andre Sharpe, whose 25-yard gem on 68 minutes had the packed venue in appeciative awe.

In front of their vociferous home supporters, Wolmer's went on the offensive early and were quickly rewarded when Waugh got between goalkeeper Damion McLean and defender Brad Gillings to slam the ball home.

The strapping Waugh then rose majestically and powerfully headed home Mikhail Hewitt's pinpoint cross.

Saddler got his goal for the losers when he shook off a defender's challenge before tapping into an empty goal.

But the day belonged to the Wolmerians who did not disappoint their fans with a convincing and entertaining display.

In other Group C matches, Calabar blanked Edith Dalton James 8-0, Meadowbrook and St Catherine played to a 1-1 draw, Eltham turned back Donald Quarrie 2-0 and Kingston College defeated Kingston High 3-0.

Are the colours as close as it seems?

Those colours are close? I see worse than that all the time in Jamaica and it doesn't matter what sport or level.

We really need to do more to prevent some serious colour clashes in sport. Bad enuff that the quality, esp. in football, is so woeful, so let's give the players (and officials) every help they can get, starting with being able to distinguish teammates from opponents!

I doubt very much there is any rule that makes sense. It could be something like "visiting teams must not wear the exact same outfits as the home team."
