Schoolboy football KO cup to take a hit amid changes

The prestigious Walker and Ben Francis Cup knockout competitions, which have been staples of traditional schoolboy football triple crown supremacy, have been virtually watered down to second-tier tournaments for the 2018 season.

Instead of having the top teams vie for the knockout cups, those competitions will be contested amongst teams eliminated at fairly early stages of the respective Manning and daCosta Cup competitions, the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) announced during yesterday's schoolboy football launch at the Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel.

To what purpose,who did they consult with,surely not the JFF or the TD , those cups should be reserved for those who qualify for the Manning and Dacosts cup quarter or semifinal !

That's how you reduce games ,and maintain tradition,but the arguement isn't to reduce games ,it is to reduce it because of congestion,in truth it needs to expand as per best practices with a reduced congestion so players and coaches can master the craft of developmental football.

Best practices dictate 6 to 8 months of football.

Start mid August end it late Jan early Feb,or start August and end it mid late Jan to early feb.

ISSA took 4 steps backwards.

Since it was devalued by ISSA the name should change. The value is obviously inferior to the competition that preceded this season. Winners of the Also Ran Cup should not be combined nor compared with the previous Walker Cup winners

There are too many schools in Manning and worse - DaCosta. We see schools picking up 10-0 or 6-0 regularly Joke ting

What they need is a 2 tier system with promotion/relegation every year
