What also appears to be forgotten in this discussion is that these are public, ie TAXPAYER funded schools. Open recruiting of international athletes into public schools does not sit well with me, when decent high school options are a scarcity in Jamaica. At the very least someone should be paying some kind of international tuition fee to the Ministry of Education or somewhere.

It is looking more to me like we may need to consider a model with an academy program that is a distinct entity but a part of the public school. Something like the private Tony Thwaites wing at UWI Hospital. The students are not separated or anything of course, but if you are a recruited international student in the academy program someone other than the govt is paying for your ride.
