i used the application they provided me with when they told me that i need in order to get their citizenship and thereafter their passport.

parents are both jamaican and the children were born elsewhere .... they may well have given me the wrong form as i did not really research it. but this was my experience

Dem give you the wrong form...

The children were automatically eligible and before 1999, they were AUTOMATICALLY citizens of Jamaica (at birth) being born to a Jakan dad legally married to the Mom (foreign or not, didnt matter).

I had to become naturalized to get my replacement yard passport 5 years ago.

Fill out one form and provide proof of eligibility.

I dont think I imagined it.

[You also used the wrong form. The issue here is that you and Gamma did not speak to the officials in Jamaican patois If you had the passport (even it you got it as a child) then it means that your are a Jamaican Citizen. However, some countries want you to sign once as an adult so that if you are drafted then you cannot claim that you never claimed it. That is not naturalization, its registration and the forms and the certificate are different.

Naturalization and certification are 2 different things.
The correct process was explained to me years ago by the Consular officer here and to my family by MoNS people in Jamaica.

Right to Citizenship Based on Descent:

<By law, all persons born outside of Jamaica, who have a claim to Jamaican citizenship by descent, whether through parents or grandparents, are required to formally apply for the Certification of Jamaican Citizenship. This applies also to those who may have held Jamaican passports previously and now need to renew their passport and be issued with machine readable passports.

              How to Apply

Complete the Citizenship Application form, which can be obtained from the Passport Immigration and Citizenship Agency website (PICA), any Jamaican High Commission or Consulate, or the link below:>

Ok. Nothing wrong with applying for a Certificate of Citizenship especially since they probably could not find the old paper files ... all good unless they ask to you apply for Certificate of Naturalization. That means you did not speak patois natural enough.

Like any Jamaican organisation, if you talk to 5 people about what you need to do to get something doen, you will get 5 different views! So, trust mi, maybe all of you went through different routes when there is really just one.

I agree, however, its the top civil service people who explained it to me. I have been updated on the laws, so I know what clock a strike.

Simple principle at play here. To certify is not the same as to naturalize.

No, you had to be CERTIFIED.

It is you who are guessing (where U see any mention of being naturalized?):
