It has long been clear that many schools don't belong in Manning or DaCosta competition...maybe a 2 tier structure is needed with a promotion to the top levels

Then again the entire exercise is a waste of "tax money" as it is fails to provide good material for national teams.

Agree with you Don. Our schoolboy footballers, Mannings and DaCosta are overrated, and way below par. Grossly lack skill and football sense.

The problem seems to be in the coaching. They are more concerned with winning than developing talent. The same guys year in year out, the Jackie Walters. Waste of "tax money" is right.

Saw Georges vs Spain Town on Saturday. Thoroughly dissatisfied with the standard! And Georges will be among the top finishers this season.

Have not watched a school boy match in ages, and the quality of the coaching is the enemy?

What about the 'star studded' Wolmers...drew both games played so far and appear to be struggling... Holness out for the season but his absence should not leave such a void in the team.

I would say Spanish Town controlled the game in the first half, but Georges played more directly and had the better scoring chances.

In the second half, it was all Georges, as a result of their fitness, apparently, but the football itself was not all that.

One of the better players on the field was the young leftback for Spain Town.

Perhaps schoolboy football primary should be viewed primarily as extra curricular activity for those who made it to high school. In that case dropping 17-0 is good fun even its comedy football and not a waste of 'tax money.' That 17-0 memory will last a lifetime. Nawm don't scrap the comedy teams. Let the strikers from the better teams get some live target practice.

As you mentioned that, i was listening to a sports talk show last week and heard a George's man call in and he was almost crying when he spoke of how amateurish Marvin Morgan was handled.

Appears to me that based on his one good season at schoolboy football and the mad rush by people who might not have been qualified to push him forward, the youth dropped out of school and was travelling all over the place, running down contract when maybe he should have been polishing his game and his education....

Scored a nice goal for BT on Sunday but was ineffective most of the game

There is no we we should be developing talent for our national teams through high school competitions. We have been trying to do this for years now and it has failed.

The model for proper development through clubs and academies is being practiced all around the globe from South America to Europe through Asia to Africa.
