ALEXANDRIA, St Ann - William Knibb Memorial High School secured their place in the Inter-zone round of the ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel daCosta Cup schoolboy football competition yesterday after swamping Aabuthnott Gallimore 4-0 in a Zone D rescheduled game at Alexandria.
William Knibb, who sat out last season and were switched from Zone A to Zone D prior to the start of this season, finished the preliminary rounds with 26 points, three less than zone winners Marcus Garvey Technical, but one point ahead of Cedric Titus.
Jamoi Clarke in the first half and Odeany Morris, Beneto Lawrence and Oshane Brown in the second scored for William Knibb, who had won the first-round game 3-1.
The game was originally scheduled for last Saturday but was washed out after 12 minutes with William Knibb leading 1-0.
Two more Inter-zone places and the winners in Zone E will be decided today as the preliminary round of the competition comes to a close finally with three rescheduled games.
Munro College need a draw against Newell High to win Zone E ahead of arch-rivals St Elizabeth Technical.
After their dramatic 3-2 win over STETHS on Saturday to sweep the season series, Munro and STETHS are tied on 22 points at the top of the standings.
The game was scheduled for last Wednesday, but the field was not prepared and was set to be played today.
Bog Walk must avoid losing by three goals or more to pip McGrath High and advance ahead of Charlemont High.
Both schools are presently on 23 points, with Bog Walk having a better goal difference but could still advance even in the unlikely event of a defeat.
Bog Walk had won the first-round game 3-1.
In Zone K, St Mary Technical on 19 points, must beat Iona High to advance ahead of St Mary High, who are tied with Brimmervale High on 21 points, but with a better goal difference.
