Clarendon into daCosta Cup semis

DRAX HALL, St Ann - Former champions Clarendon College are the first semi-finalist in the daCosta Cup rural area schoolboy football competition after beating Garvey Maceo 2-1 in a Clarendon derby at Brancourt.

Damali Samuels and Nepfa Stewart scored once in each half as Clarendon won their second straight quarter-final game after beating Rusea's 2-0 at STETHS on Saturday.
Clarendon sit on top of Group One with maximum six points and cannot finish lower than second place even if they lose Saturday's game against Glenmuir.
Samuels gave the Ben Francis Knockout runners-up the lead in the first half, but a spectacular left-foot effort from Ashton Bennett, his ninth since the start of the Inter-Zone round and 22nd overall this season, brought the teams level early in the second half.
Damali Stewart, however, ensured the Gregory Williams-coached team a place in the last four when he scored the winner in the second half.
Glenmuir, last year's losing finalists, moved into second place with four points after blanking Rusea's 2-0 at STETHS, ending the Hanover school's hopes of advancing.
Three teams are still in with a chance of advancing in Group Two after yesterday's results that saw Frome Technical and 10-man Titchfield playing out a 1-1 draw at Drax Hall and Bog Walk edging Denbigh High 1-0 at Dinthill.
Dwayne Laing scored his second goal for Bog Walk since the start of the Inter-Zone round to chalk up their first win at this level.
Frome and Bog Walk are tied on four points each, with the Westmoreland school slightly ahead on goals scored as they are also tied on a goal difference of one.
Titchfield are not out of contention with two points, as they played to a 0-0 draw against Bog Walk on Saturday and will have out-of-contention Denbigh on Saturday.
Titchfield managed to avoid losing to Frome for the third straight time, as they gutted out a gritty 1-1 draw at Drax Hall despite playing the last 35 minutes with 10 men.
Curtis Brown was sent off by referee Raymond Pine after picking up his second yellow card for dragging back midfielder Obrian Woodbine when he had a clear run on goal.
Titchfield took the team against the run of play as they capitalised on a Frome team that was down to nine players and stretched thin.
A swift move down the left ripped a huge hole in the Frome defence and National Under-17 player Dever Orgill finished off the move by tapping into an empty goal.
Up to then Frome had controlled the run of play against a nervous-looking Titchfield team and were forced to move two early changes, taking off right-back Paul Graham and central midfielder Delano Rankine, both to ankle injuries.
They drew level in the 32nd minute when Woodbine converted a penalty kick after the overlapping Rohan Watson was brought down in the box.
Titchfield were the aggressors in the second half and despite being forced to play a man short, created a number of scoring chances.
Frome's goalkeeper Shamar Mullings was forced to pull off a brilliant save in the 71st minute to parry Adrian Wright's shot from just inside the penalty area, and three minutes into time added on, Carlton Campbell headed a cross just over the crossbar.
