<P class=StoryText align=justify>MONTEGO BAY - The rush for places in the Inter-Zone round of the ISSA/Pepsi/JN daCosta Cup will reach fever pitch today with 18 schools still in with a chance of taking the remaining nine places.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Most of the 24 places should be sewn up after this afternoon's set of 29 matches. They are William Knibb and Herbert Morrison Technical from Zone A; Frome Technical of Zone B; Grange Hill, Zone C; Ocho Rios and Cedric Titus, Zone D; DeCarteret and Manchester, Zone F; Spalding and Holmwood, Zone G; Clarendon College and Denbigh, Zone H; Glenmuir and Garvey Maceo, Zone I and Charlemont from Zone J.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Charlemont was the latest team to secure a place after they were awarded points from their interrupted game against Ewarton on October 5.<P class=StoryText align=justify>ISSA awarded the points on Thursday, giving Charlemont a two-goal margin of victory, which took them to 20 points and at least second place in the zone.
A point against McGrath today would ensure them zone honours and a place in the Ben Francis Knockout first round against the winners of Zone K.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Yesterday's game between Titchfield and Paul Bogle set for Carder Park was not played. Reports reaching Sporting World are that Paul Bogle's management had mistakenly thought the game was set for this afternoon.
ISSA's competitions committee chairman George Forbes confirmed the mix-up and said that a decision would be made as soon as possible.<P class=StoryText align=justify>This means the two places from Zone L will not be decided until Wednesday's round of matches at the very earliest.
Today, there will be a number of interesting match-ups on the schedule today, most interest will be on Zones C, E, K and L where just one of the eight spots has been taken.
Defending champions Godfrey Stewart's hopes of advancing are hanging by a thin thread and they will need a healthy dose of luck to continue their title defence.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Nothing but a big win and luck will see the Carl 'Long Life' Palmer team advancing to their third straight Inter-Zone berth. Godfrey Stewart are in third place and with a minus -two goal difference and must win by at least seven clear goals and hope Petersfield lose big to qualifiers Grange Hill.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Despite not playing on Wednesday, the Linval 'Palla' Wilson-coached Grange Hill secured their place and could take zone honours today with just a point. A draw would suit their opponents Petersfield, who had lost in the first round.<P class=StoryText align=justify>The Zone E race has come down to the final set of matches and the equation is simple: leaders Munro, along with St Elizabeth Technical and Black River must all win.
