MONTEGO BAY - Six-time champions Clarendon College made it two wins from two starts in Zone H of the daCosta Cup schoolboy competition yesterday, blanking Denbigh High 2-0 at Wembley Sports Complex.

Damali Samuels gave Clarendon a first-half lead before Gregory Lewis confirmed the points in the second as Clarendon College increased their points tally to six.

A David Nelson first-half strike was enough to give Edwin Allen High a 1-0 win over Thompson Town High in Frankfield.

In a Zone K game that was brought forward from today, Islington and St Mary High drew 1-1.

The competition continues today with 21 games as St Thomas Technical go after four straight wins when they host Titchfield High at Eastern Bananas.

The Zone K leaders have not managed to beat the Andrew Edwards-coached Titchfield in the past three seasons, however, losing all four games played.

Titchfield have dominated the series to the extent that St Thomas Technical have not scored a goal against them since the 2003 season.

St Thomas Technical have, however, reeled off three straight wins so far this season, including a 4-2 defeat of Fair Prospect High, who up till then was the most impressive team in the competition on paper.

Titchfield, who failed to advance from their zone last season, have won, drawn and lost once so far and will face their sternest test today.

Meanwhile, in another Zone L game, Fair Prospect welcome back leading goalscorer Roger Wilson for their away game against Yallahs.

Wilson sat out Saturday's loss to St Thomas Technical after picking up a red card the previous game.

Four schools, including former champions St Elizabeth Technical High (STETHS), Glenmuir and Munro College, along with surprise Zone A leaders Maldon, will be going after their third straight win.

The impressive STETHS have lost just once to Lacovia, all the way back in the 2001 season, but have won five of the last six games, including a 9-0 hammering last season, with the other ending in a 1-1 draw.

STETHS have scored 15 times in two matches with Comar Pascoe finding the back of the net seven times and strike partner Renario Downswell scoring five times.

Munro have managed to keep pace in the points column but have scored only four goals compared to STETHS's 15 and will be home to Newell High, whom they have beaten just once in their last four meetings.

Glenmuir High have scored four goals in each of their two games played so far and will play away to Kemps Hill whom they have beaten four straight times, including two 6-whippings last season.

Maldon are off to their best-ever start in the competition and after edging Cornwall College on Saturday, will fancy their chances against Herbert Morrison in a Zone A top-of-the-table clash in Montego Bay.

Herbert Morrison looked scrappy in parts against William Knibb on Monday, but must step up a gear or two if they hope to contain a confident Maldon team.

Defending champions Godfrey Stewart High will be playing for the first time since the opening game and will be home to Petersfield in Savannah-la-Mar. A win would make them joint leaders with Grange Hill, who will be idle.
Yesterday's results
Zone H
