• St Thomas Tech win again; Maldon shock Cornwall

MONTEGO BAY — St Thomas Technical made it three-in-a row in Zone L of the daCosta Cup schoolboy competition yesterday, beating Seaforth High 2-0.
Cleon Whitely and Michael Clarke — with his fourth of the season — scored for St Thomas Technical, who assumed the lead in the group with nine points after Fair Prospect’s good start was halted by Happy Grove, who beat them 4-2 at Hector’s River.
Sayco Gordon scored twice for Happy Grove, who extended their dominance over Fair Prospect, having never lost to them
Former national youth player Roy Forbes and Travis Walker both scored a goal, while Davian McFarlane and Tyrone Brown scored their third of the season — once each for Fair Prospect
Michael McDowell created history for Paul Bogle High as his 34th-minute goal took them to their first ever win from three start as they edged Yallahs 1-0.
Meanwhile, Comar Pascoe of St Elizabeth Technical (STETHS) surged to the top of the goal-scoring chart when he bagged a hat-trick to lead his team to a 6-0 drubbing of Newell High. Renario Downswell got a brace and Miguel Barnaby one
Pascoe now has seven goals — one more than Roger Wilson of Fair Prospect, who sat out yesterday’s match after picking up a red card on Wednesday.
Mannings School lost 1-0 for the second straight week thanks to another goalkeeping error as Grange Hill surged atop Zone C with their second win.
Mannings were edged by champions Godfrey Stewart by the same margin in the opening game of the season.
And Maldon are surprise leaders of Zone A after beating Cornwall College for the first time. Kenrick McLeod scored in the 14th minute after Cornwall’s central defender Yasheema Love misplayed a ball and allowed the Maldon striker to beat advancing goalkeeper Cavoy Barnes.
Cornwall dominated the second half and had several scoring chances, but Maldon’s goalkeeper Eldeen Levy had a good game, while the Cornwall players were woefully off target.
Last season’s first time quarter-finalists DeCarteret College opened their account with a 7-0 drubbing of May Day in Zone F. Dean Gayle got a hat-trick, while Sandre Wilson scored a brace.
Manchester High were also off to a good start, beating Belair 3-1 while playing with 10 men for 85 minutes after a defender was sent off for deliberately handling the ball.
Shane Cousins scored twice for the Barry Watsoncoached team.
Former champions Glenmuir High made it two from two in Zone I, beating Old Harbour 4-0 thanks to two goals each from James Thomas and Christopher Calder.
Vere Technical were upset 1-0 winners over Garvey Maceo High in another Zone I game.
