Ghana-Jamaica friendly looks set for Accra

Ghana's national team could be heading home next week for their first game in the country for nearly three years.

This was after organisers of a proposed friendly against Jamaica in London on 14 October called off the game.

Organisers say Ghana are now likely to host the game in Accra at the El-Wak stadium on Wednesday 17 October.

The British Metropolitan Police were apprehensive in policing the game which prompted Leyton Orient to withdraw their permission to host the match in their stadium.

Several other London clubs also turned down the offer to host the game because of past experiences with African countries.

There have been concerns about pitch invasions during matches involving African countries in London which makes policing difficult.

Despite this late development, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is keen to make use Fifa's date for international friendlies as the country prepares for its hosting of next year's African Cup of Nations.

Organisers say the GFA has agreed in principle to host Jamaica in Accra to aid their preparation for the Nations Cup.

The game will be the Black Stars first game in the country since playing in the World Cup qualifiers in 2005.

It will also be captain Stephen Appiah’s first game for Ghana since February when the Black Stars defeated Nigeria 4-1.

      Damn!
...I wonder if the "some changes" it was reported being requested by us of the contractural arrangements had anything to do with the move?
