Last weekend, the Seattle Sounders won the United Soccer League Division One championship at home, beating the Atlanta Silverbacks 4-0.
Craig Tomlinson, 34, a speedy forward from Jamaica who has been with the Sounders since at least 2004, scored Seattle's fourth goal in second half stoppage time when he poked in a rebound. He entered the game as a substitute with nine minutes remaining. According to the story on United Soccer League's home page, the game may have been Tomlinson's last.
Tomlinson, who was also a track star at Ohio State, is one of the more popular Sounders players. He runs the Sounders youth program.
In past years, I had been pushing for Craig to get a trial with the Reggae Boyz.
