MONTEGO BAY, St James - Wilfred Smith scored a double as Seba United opened the Cash Plus Premier League (CPPL) season with a hard-fought 4-3 win over Waterhouse at Jarrett Park yesterday, giving former Reggae Boy Theodore Whitmore a winning debut as coach.

The home team shocked the fancied Waterhouse by taking a two-goal lead just about 30 minutes into the contest, then hung on as the Kingston-based club stormed back in the
    second half.

Delroy Ellis in the seventh minute and Kemar James in the 31st had the home crowd rocking before Desmond Breakenridge pulled one back in the 36th.

Smith restored Seba's two-goal lead with his first in the 41st, but Kirk Ramsey's powerhouse header three minutes into the second half knocked the home team back on their heels.

Smith scored again in the 65th minute after the home team countered with a brilliant three-man move, while Jomo Gordon's 76th minute penalty conversion brought the margin back to one goal. Seba's veteran central defender, Seion McNish, needlessly fouled Jonathon Williams on the edge of the box while the midfielder's back was to goal.

Seba dominated the first half with a brisk passing game at one time making about 15 passes before Oliver Trail shot powerfully to goalkeeper Richard McCallum, who had a miserable afternoon.
