SKNFA continues drive to educate local coaches
- 18th September, 2007Over the past 2 ½ years the SKNFA has intensified its efforts to have the coaches on the islands trained. This is based on the strong belief that if you do not have the coaching knowledge you cannot impart it.
And so under the direction of the Technical Director Lenny Taylor, over 70 local coaches have received the SKNFA D License. Those coaches that have excelled have been sent abroad to International Courses to get the International knowledge that would equip them in advancing St. Kitts/Nevis.
In 2006 two coaches were successful in passing the English F.A Coaching License held in Trinidad & Tobago, they were Youth Director Lenny Lake and Goalkeeper Coach Orrin Hughes.
In an attempt to increase the International knowledge of the local coaches, four (4) coaches left St. Kitts on Tuesday 13th September to attend the 10 day English FA Coaching License to be conducted in Trinidad.
In an attempt to ensure that there is a unified approach to the teaching of football in the schools, Head of the Football Department in the Ministry of Sports, Elvis Star Browne was selected by the SKNFA to attend the course.
The other three coaches are all part of the SKNFA Coaching Staff namely Jeffery Hazel, U-17 Head Coach and Washington Archibald High F.C; Shannoid Bass, Assistant Coach - U-17 and Basseterre High School F.C and Shavon Douglas U-13 coach and S.L Horsford St. Pauls F.C.
In congratulating the coaches on their selection President of the SKNFA noted that the selection of these four coaches would facilitate the transfer of the knowledge to our youth and in so doing accelerate the forward thrust of youth football.
