  • Newton Sterling of Village United joins Onandi Lowe

Defender Wayne Ellis and goalkeeper Allan Reid also make the trip to Collie Smith Drive, with Omar Parker of Rivoli United being an adequate replacement for Oneil Thompson.
Portmore United seek to form their own 'twin tower' as the tall Newton Sterling of Village United joins Onandi Lowe in attack, while Fabian Davis will bring his vast experience from Tivoli Gardens.

Good to see some vision at P. More , Sterling is an excellent understudy to Lowe.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

Boyd returns to Arnett in flurry of transfers

Arnett Gardens' capture of the mercurial Walter Boyd from Naggo Head may be the biggest news since the transfer window for the Cash Plus Premier League closed on September 13.

However, Waterhouse and Portmore United seem to have made the more astute acquisitions as the new-look competition prepares to kick off on September 30 with the 12 clubs busy strengthening their squads for the extended 38-game season.

Former champions Waterhouse were busy in the transfer market, bringing in 21 players on a permanent basis, with the most noticeable names being national player Mario Harrison of Reno and the skillful Jonathan Williams of Arnett Gardens.
The talented Kenardo Forbes and Andre Clennon of Naggo Head join Garfield Reid who has re-signed.

But the most interesting signing could be Ramon Bailey, who has caught the eye during the pre-season games. Bailey, 23, an attacking midfielder, signed with the MetroStars in 2005 but did not appear in a single league game for the club before being released in November 2005. He has returned home and is said to be creating waves in the community.

Champions Harbour View have brought in 12 players while sealing a permanent move with Richard Edwards. They have also secured youngsters like Dicoy Williams of Arnett and Montrose Phinn of St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS).

Former Rivoli United player, Derrick Planter, continues his sojourn at the West Kingston and South St Andrew constituencies by stopping at Boys' Town. Last year he started at Tivoli Gardens before joining brother Barrington Planter at Arnett Gardens.

The Red Brigade, meanwhile, have signed 15 players, with seven coming from neighbours Arnett Gardens. Jermaine Bailey returns to his old club while veteran striker Oneil McDonald makes the trip from Portmore United.

Defender Wayne Ellis and goalkeeper Allan Reid also make the trip to Collie Smith Drive, with Omar Parker of Rivoli United being an adequate replacement for Oneil Thompson.

The St Catherine-based team have also drafted in promising youngsters Roy Forbes of Progressive FC in Portland, national Under-20 goalkeeper Dwayne Kerr of Reno, and national Under-20 player James Thomas of Glenmuir and Original Hazard.

Arnett Gardens have brought back veterans Boyd and Byron Earle, while Craig White from Waterhouse and the much-travelled Angasha McDermott from August Town bring a wealth of experience.

Highly-thought-of defender Fabian Smith from St Catherine team Meadows FC, along with youth players Andre Wilson and Anchoi Headley of Naggo Head have also been recruited.

Reno FC have rounded up 14 players, with 11 being signed from within the parish of Westmoreland. They might not be household names, but Wendell Downswell is an astute coach and knows what is needed to strengthen his team.

New boys Sporting Central of Clarendon have secured eight new players - mostly from within the parish - so it will be a matter of wait and see how these players perform.

Lone St James team Seba United have acquired 10 players, with the most noticeable being Daniel Ricketts from relegated Wadadah and Anthowe Dawkins from Arnett Gardens.

Village United, meanwhile, have gotten the hard-kicking Rohan Reid of Wadadah and Damion Nelson of Seba among the nine players brought in.

Portland's St George's FC have been the third most active team in the transfer market, bringing in 16 players - all but one from St Mary. Brendon Lopez from Arnett Gardens has made the trek back home.

Tivoli may have lost the influential Davis, but they have acquired Roberto Fletcher from Waterhouse, who has the Tivoli die-hards bubbling with expectations.

Ramon Bailey's game has improved significantly since his trip to Europe. He should be the standout midfielder in the league and in the National team by the end of the season.

I put my money or P.more to clean up all titles.
