    OK, I like ..............

DESPITE missing out on the semi-finals on the Concacaf Nations League (CNL) and automatic qualification to the Concacaf Gold Cup next summer, Reggae Boyz Head Coach Steve McClaren says they’ll use the experience as a valuable stepping stone toward securing qualification for the 2026 World Cup.

McClaren suffered consecutive losses as they went down 5-2 on aggregate to USA in the quarter-final round. The result extends Jamaica’s record against the USA as they remain winless in their last nine encounters and have only managed three wins in 35 matches against them.

However, he says the Nations League games have been a learning experience and intends to make some changes as he tries to make the team a success.

“The real telling in terms of the three camps is we’ve used 37 players, so I’ve certainly had a look at a lot of players that can represent Jamaica. And that’s too many [anyway] for whatever reason, [whether because of] injuries, not playing, suspensions,” McClaren said.

“We’ve had a real good look, and that’s what I wanted in the first three camps — [to] set the standards, be more professional, and develop a style and a way of playing that I believe is the modern game and [which will] help us to qualify, not just for 2026 but for 2030. Because there’s a lot of young talent that I see, and we need to develop them technically and tactically because they’ve got a great spirit, which is a great foundation.”

McClaren says he will need the assistance of Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) to continue building on what he’s done since his arrival.

Our greatest faults...most visiable faults have to do with the two every present...critical technical skills, that is, receipt of the ball and accuracy on/of passing. Too often on receipt of the ball the touch and close skills were such that the ball immediately thereafter 'was handed to the opponent' ended with the USA player having same. ...and too often our passes either went directly to, or was intercepted by the opponent...a USA player. Further breakdown of why some passes went astray was due to 'slow working brains'...Yes, these passes going astray were, also too often the result of poor decisionmaking.

Our Players too often took too long/too often 'spent too long on the ball' before making the pass. Staying too long on the ball allows opponents to close passing lanes and in any case assist them to better determine route where the attempt at passing is likely to be directed. In this our last match it was obvious that the USA had a much higher percentage rate of one-time passes and greater sucess rate on passing, that is, passes connecting with intended targeted TEAMmate than our did Reggae Boyz.

Specific to Leon Bailey and Tyreek MaGee each of whom much was expected.

Both players lost the ball numerous times because of "sitting on the ball too long". Each most often ignored a one-time pass in favour of taking an extra touch or extra touches or an attempted dribble. Too often those actions resulted in, to borrow a basket ball phrase, a "turnover"...a handing of the ball to the USA. We cannot ignore those "turnovers" but they also too often passed to their opponent. End result of their failure to positively impact the game was each being yanked by Coach McLaren.

Specific to Shavar Nicholson - Much was expected of Shavar.

Shavar proved to be not quick enough of thought and physical action. Few were his attempts to bring TEAMmates into the action. This guy does not love to pass. Did not live up to expectations and was yanked.

Conclusion: Much work needed by Coach McLaren to get each player and his TEAM REGGAE BOYZ up to speed on passing and moving, moving and passing game such that the REGGAE BOYZ can better the USA and top World Football competitors.

Much work needed on Coach Mclaren , before this game we struggled to score from open play under his reign, i think it was 6 games. Compared to his predecessor who had this team scoring from every position on the team , defence, midfield and forward line.
THERE IS ONLY ONE ONANDI LOWE!

"Good things come out of the garrisons" after his daughter won the 100m Gold For Jamaica.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.
