I remember when Mexico thought they were too good for CONCACAF, and even petitioned FIFA to play in CONMEBOL. They were also seen as automatic finalists for both Junior & Senior CONCACAF Championships.......Mexico City is no longer a stronghold, where they won upward of 98% of their games. Mexico has even established permanent scouting & recruiting teams in the U.S.A. (6) and Canada (1) to help bolster their youth ranks, two countries they claim didn't know how to develop players....... I see Mexico now putting a new spin of them needing to join CONMEBOL - They're now saying that CONCACAF doesn't offer them strong competition, and so they need to play in CONMEBOL, to be a better team.
Is it that other CONCACAF teams are catching up/closing the gap, and/or does the FMF & Liga MX need to revamp their youth development system???
