    Nominations for JFF posts close

    Thursday, September 06, 2007

Nominations for the upcoming polls of the JFF to be held in Negril, Westmoreland, on November 4, closed at 5:00 pm yesterday.

General secretary of the sport's local governing body, Burchell Gibson, said all the nominations were in, but he declined to give details until the board of the JFF is notified.

Gibson said that he would not be in a position before Monday to make a disclosure to the media.

The positions up for nomination are that of president, first vice-president, second vice-president, third vice- president, treasurer and ex-officio (executive officer).

Former JFF president, Captain Horace Burrell, the sole candidate for the post of president, is expected to get the bulk of the nomination - some suggesting as much as 12 of 13 parish associations.

The powerful confederation of KSAFA did not nominate anyone for the top job, but put forward the JFF incumbent, Rudolph Speid, for the post of treasurer.

Current president Crenston Boxhill announced that he will not be seeking re-election, creating a virtual shoe-in for Burrell to regain his old job.
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
