  • Saints snap up Euell

    Friday 31 Aug 2007

Southampton have moved to fill the void created by the departure of Kenwyne Jones to Sunderland after signing Middlesbrough's Jason Euell.
The Jamaica international has joined Saints on a free transfer after putting pen to paper on a two-year contract.

Euell, who began his career in English football with Wimbledon before moving on to Charlton Athletic, has been employed as an attacking midfielder at Boro in recent seasons.

The 30-year-old has made more than 300 career appearances and will form a new-look strikeforce with fellow recent signing Stern John at St Mary's.

Meanwhile, Southampton have allowed striker David McGoldrick to join League One side Port Vale on loan until January.
