JAMAICA FOOTBALL FEDERATION ACCEPTS POSITION OF J. WRAY AND NEPHEW LIMITED AND EXPRESSES STRONG APPRECIATION
The decision of J. Wray and Nephew Limited to release the Jamaica Football Federation without penalty from its contract sponsoring the National Premier League for the period 2007-2012 has come after months of very amicable discussions regarding the sponsorship of the League.
At all times during the discussions Wray and Nephew has listened to the challenges facing the clubs in respect of the level of sponsorship and has always made it clear that the company would not stand in the way if increased sponsorship was secured.
At all times the JFF has sought to be transparent and forthcoming in relation to the developments and discussions taking place at all levels.
It is against this background that the JFF accepts the position of J. Wray and Nephew Limited as expressed in its Release issued concurrently with this release by the JFF.
The JFF would like to place on public record its sincerest appreciation to J. Wray and Nephew Limited, which through its popular brand, Wray and Nephew White Overproof Rum has sponsored Jamaica’s premier domestic football league for the past five years. Through the sponsorship, not only has the local football programme grown and matured but individual players through the exposure facilitated by the League have been able to develop their football careers.
J. Wray and Nephew has also been an extremely reliable partner to Jamaica’s football programme, sponsoring many international friendly matches and has always had a very keen interest in supporting the developmental component of the sport.
The President of the Jamaica Football Federation in accepting the position of J. Wray and Nephew has extended special appreciation to the Executives of the company with whom discussions were held for their appreciation of the issues, their patience and lauded the strong component of mutual respect that characterized the discussions. The President noted that the Federation has enjoyed an excellent working relationship with J. Wray and Nephew Limited.
The Jamaica Football Federation in accepting the position of J Wray and Nephew Limited is very confident that the company and the brand will be a life time partner of Jamaica’s football programme.
An announcement will be made shortly regarding the sponsorship of the League.
