With the "start" of the ill-fated European Super League, I heard interviews, from England, claiming that the owners don't respect English football tradition.......What TRADITION are they speaking about??? - The TRADITION that sold England's elite clubs to foreign owners who are willing to fork out hundreds of millions of pounds, and spend hundreds of millions of pounds, each year, to buy top-rated players. .......These foreign owners are businessmen who see the acquisition of these football clubs, and other sports teams, as investments - Did they check to see what type of owners these were??? It seems the priority was to make as much money on the sale of these clubs, regardless who the owners were.
Tradition and the interest of the supporters are secondary, when it comes to the priorities of these football bodies. Time and time again we see that they make decisions based on how much money they can get.......I feel that the reason why the ESL faced so much opposition, from these bodies, is that the organizers didn't offer them a share of the billions. The organizers failed to compensate the "gate keepers". I feel that if they were getting a share of the money, the "gate keepers" would have found a way to sell it as a plan to improve football, in Europe.
