SAV-LA-MAR, Westmoreland - Defending daCosta Cup champions Glenmuir High will headline tomorrow's third annual Mannings School pre-season football tournament to be held on the school grounds in Savanna-la-Mar.
Eight schools, including four former daCosta Cup champions, are scheduled to take part in the one-day tournament that is aimed at helping to raise funds for the host school's daCosta Cup programme.
The four past daCosta Cup winners taking part are Glenmuir, Clarendon College, Frome Technical and Godfrey Stewart. These will be joined by four other teams from Westmoreland in Petersfield, Mannings, Little London and Grange Hill.
Eaton Bruce, coach of the Mannings team this year and a co-organiser of the tournament, told the Observer that the tournament will be played on a knockout basis and the teams will be separated into two groups of four.
Each match will be of 40 minutes' duration, starting from 12 noon, and the top teams will share a purse of $50,000.
In addition to the schoolboy teams taking part, the two corner league finalists, Dester and Russia, will also meet during the day's proceedings.
