'Stringbean' nets four for Jamaica <DIV class=KonaBody>

Star player Venicia 'Stringbean' Reid pumped in four goals and helped propel Jamaica to a 7-0 whipping of Bermuda in their opening women's Group B Caribbean Football Union (CFU) final round match yesterday.
The Jamaica squad became more dominant as the game progressed at the Larry Gomes Stadium and emphatically grabbed the group lead in the series that also serves as a women's CONCACAF Gold Cup qualifier.
Featuring many of the players that carried them to the CFU Under-20 title last year, Jamaica used prolific scoring in the second half to secure the big win.
Omolyn Davis, currently on scholarship at Lindsay College in Kentucky, U.S.A., kicked off Jamaica's scoring in the 19th minute and the Reggae Girlz went to the break 2-0 up after Reid scored in the 33rd minute.
Reid scored again in the 61st minute and the Jamaicans hit in another four unanswered goals in the last 14 minutes as the Bermudians wilted.
The last three goals were easy tap-ins from inside the six-yard box as the Jamaicans cruised to the easy win.
Davis got a second goal in the 76th minute, Reid added strikes in the 83rd and 88th, and Shakira Duncan closed out the scoring in the 89th minute.
Bermuda will play Haiti in the next Group B game on Friday and the series ends on Sunday with Jamaica tackling Haiti.
Hosts Trinidad and Tobago played Suriname in last night's opening Group A game also at the Larry Gomes Stadium. The Dominican Republic is the third team in Group A.
The winners of each group will progress to the 2006 CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup along with Canada, Mexico, Panama and the host U.S.A. in November.
The six-team Women's Gold Cup that will crown the CONCACAF champions will also qualify two nations to the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup in China.
The third-place finisher from the CONCACAF event in November will face an Asian team in a home-and-away play-off for the final berth to the FIFA tournament. </DIV>
